Huang Guosheng

Huang Guosheng (formerly known as Huang Jianguo) was born in Nawu Town, Maoming, Guangdong, China, in 1969. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association and the Translators Association of China, and was once a 65 kg Chinese Sanda fighter. He has received the Liangbin Fiction Prize, placed 4th in the Tianya Novel Contest, and ranked 10th in a national English writing competition in 2000.

His novel Shenzhen Dream was longlisted for the 9th Mao Dun Literary Prize. His original English works have appeared in China’s Shenzhen Daily and American literary magazines including Brilliant Flash Fiction, Wisconsin Review, and Festival for Poetry.

His novel The Road to Shenzhen, completed in 2017, was the first contemporary original English novel from China published in the UK. It was also the first and only work from China to be nominated by Malaysia for the 2019 Dublin Literary Award, and was republished under the title Shenzhen Dream in Austria in 2020.

He currently works as an international businessman and a bilingual Chinese-English writer in Shenzhen, China.
